Eknes is segment director for Offshore Service Vessels and Special Ships in DNV, which include multiple vessel types where maritime batteries now has become "must have". The role includes a global responsibility for DNVs strategic directions within the market segment, hence Eknes is monitoring new opportunities and trends closely.

His background after graduating with MSc in Marine structures includes >30 years of experience in different technical and management positions, and also education within communication and change.

He is a board member of the Maritime Battery Forum, the Shipping & Offshore Network and in the Norwegian Forum for Marine Minerals. Eknes is a very active motivator and frequently used advisor in how the industry can improve its competitiveness, and is involved in several industry projects aiming at developing new best practices.
